This post is part of a 3 part series about my recent photoshoot. It was really amazing, and I learned so much about what it means to me to be a woman who more and more is standing in my power. Look out for part 3, and check out part 1 here.
Treating Myself Big
As a part of my plans for Memorial Day weekend, I booked a spa session at the EdgyZen Spa in Alexandria. The plan was to pamper myself, and I was fortunate enough to spend a part of the weekend there experiencing not only what the spa had to offer, but also to have a photo shoot with Candace — The Essence Photographer — on the grounds of the spa.
This whole experience was full of wonderful synchronicities, from preparation for the photoshoot, to the blissful day I spent at the spa where I had an hour of private yoga, followed by an acupressure/zero rebalancing massage, the infrared sauna, and the whirlpool hot tub. As much as I learned about what it means for me to be a woman standing in my power (the theme of the photoshoot), the time spent at the spa was an exquisite self-care session, with its own lesson for me.
I went to the salon and had my roots done then headed to Alexandria to the spa, where my self-care regimen started with private yoga. It was a rainy day, and I felt so cozy in the session, sitting in front of the fireplace and listening to the raindrops on the windows behind me. I have done yoga many times but this was a more exquisite personalized experience. I loved it.
She had me pick a spirit animal card. I picked “the Dove”, and from what I read on the card, the Dove was all about nurturing, unconditional love, Aphrodite and sexuality. I couldn’t have picked a more fitting card. It was another synchronicity as this has been a theme for me recently. One of the themes for my photoshoot the next day would be Becoming Aphrodite. My friend Ann wrote a wonderful article about me which you can read here called — My friend thinks she is Aphrodite — here’s why she is right! I am in the midst of putting the finishing touches on Aphrodite University — a container that encompasses many of the ways I work with women in my coaching business (and you can get on the mailing list here). Pulling this card was a wonderful message from the universe that I was in the right place.
